Welcome to my website!
Carol Beigel, RPT
I enjoy talking with my clients, and over the years I have had the privilege of explaining many things about pianos. This website is the written extension of these conversations. There is a standing joke among piano technicians that if you ask three of them about a single topic, you will get five different answers! The articles I have written for this website come from my personal perspective about how I see and relate to pianos as both a piano technician and piano owner/player.
On this website you will find descriptions of the technical services I offer, information about caring for your piano, and things to consider when purchasing a piano. See What's Here for a list of the goodies inside.
A wide array of powerful tools are available today to help us enjoy our pianos and music as never before, and this website explores some of them. There are explanations about creating and printing sheet music, transposing music to fit your voice, finding or creating orchestra or vocal accompaniments, using music data files from the internet, making backup copies the song disks you have purchased, editing your player disks for volume control, creating playlists of your favorite songs, and connecting a laptop or home computer to your MIDI player piano. I have called this endeavor, MIDI Player Tools.
Located here are music files in MIDI format that have been edited for piano-only performance without being too loud, and will play on PianoDisc, QRS, and Disklavier pianos. I have reviewed and made available some software programs that do some really useful and interesting things, and have prepared a list of links to where to find music files and other internet resources. You will need to install on your computer a zipping program like Winzip to open some of these files, and the free copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader for your computer's operating system from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html .
